The safety question procurement will ask. Anything that flies or drives itself introduces a vehicle into a space where people already work, so it arrives with a risk assessment, operating rules and a decision about what happens when it meets a pedestrian route or a forklift. Many sites answer that by clearing the aisle, segregating a zone, or counting outside working hours, and that is a cost in access or in shift patterns even where the technology performs well. Sentispec Inventory introduces no new vehicle: the recording unit rides on a forklift that is already part of the traffic your site manages, driven by a trained operator. Can a drone count faster than a camera on a forklift?
Drone vendors publish their own throughput figures, at verity.net or the vendor's own site, and we have not verified them. Sentispec Inventory counts up to 3,000 units per hour under a driver's control, measured at the deployments listed on the benchmark page.
Does a drone work in a cold store?
Flight through a dense, tall frozen aisle is a poor fit for a drone. A camera on a forklift is in the cold only for the length of a run and leaves with the forklift, and a pharmaceutical site runs the same unit through zones down to minus 23 degrees.
