SAP EWM and automated stocktaking.

Physical inventory in EWM is a formal document type, and the expensive part has always been producing the count behind it. EWM is also the most common system across German and Austrian warehouses, so this is a conversation Sentispec has regularly.

The export

EWM represents a pallet as a handling unit and a position as a storage bin, which is why what Sentispec asks for is a pairing rather than a stock list. Physical inventory in EWM is document driven, so the practical question on the call is not whether the data exists but which document type and count method your site is required to use.

What gets matched

The four discrepancy types on the integrations hub map onto exactly the differences an EWM physical inventory sets out to surface. What a count document has never carried is the image behind each line, and that is usually the part an auditor asks about rather than the arithmetic.

This runs on live customer estates today. Sentispec has live customers running on SAP EWM, exchanging stock data with it and running discrepancy analysis on that data. EWM configuration varies more than most systems, so the specific export and the field mapping are confirmed with your own EWM administrator during the five day deployment, on day two, alongside LPN translation validation. The file exchange described above works regardless of which physical inventory procedure and count method your estate is required to use.

Correction path

File, then API if wanted

The discrepancy report is usable immediately for manual correction and for supporting a count document. Automated posting through the standard API is available when your EWM team wants it, and it is a decision that can wait until after go live.

Who is involved

Your EWM team, on their terms

Getting started needs an extract, which an EWM key user can produce. Posting results back is a bigger conversation involving your EWM consultant, and nothing about the first count depends on having that conversation first.

The four discrepancy types are the same whatever system you run, and the published setup fee already covers the correlation work. Where there is no system to connect to, see counting without a WMS.
